Almost Famous
Almost Famous was set up by designer Juliana Oei and business partner Desmond Wong in August 2002, when Juliana won the much coveted Prince’s Trust Award. The brand started with a debut jeans range originally called Twins which offered a range of denim carrying Juliana’s signature careful detailing using lace, print, semi precious stones and beading. The range proved popular and quickly evolved into the complete Almost Famous collections we have today.
Originally from Indonesia, Juliana has always had a real passion for the fashion business and it was her dream to become a designer since she was a little girl. She grew up around the fashion and clothing industry and her passion and knowledge grew as she helped with her mum’s business, a clothing manufacturer in Indonesia which deals with some major distributors and retailers across the country.
After taking her Business & Marketing degree in Seattle, Juliana decided to move to the UK and follow her dream of succeeding in the fashion industry. Here she enlisted the support of business partner Desmond Wong who, over the last few years has left no stone unturned in building the wholesale for the brand. Desmond has knocked at every door and has subsequently made AF one of the most wanted brands in the Ladies distribution business. Almost Famous currently has 100 stockists across the UK and is also distributed in Italy, Spain, Holland, Sweden and Denmark.
Together Juliana and Desmond have grown Almost Famous into complete, sought-after and very wearable collections offering an eclectic mix of styles all carrying that essential attention to detail. In October 2006 they launched their debut retail space at 3-4 Percy Street, London W1
Products
Almost Famous is a distinctive label offering very wearable designs that are both different and eye-catching. Their signature style is eclectic with a great attention to detail and a focus on looks that are easily interchangeable or mix n’ matched and offer something for everyone – from a super-stylish 20 something to a sophisticated 50’s lady. Their stunning Autumn/Winter collection made up of 150 key pieces including striking printed dresses in key colours blue, brown black and white, embroidered skirts, faux fur trimmed cardigans, printed shirts, trench coats and jackets. A strong emphasis on fabric, warmth and comfort is offered with faux fur trims, suede, denim, tweed, silk and velvet. A range of co-ordinating accessories including handbags, belts brooches and jewellery are also offered.

Their debut store embodies their eclectic approach to fashion; the large retail space is gallery-esc and teams’ minimalist bright white walls with luxurious gold hanging rails and tables, deep red sofas, over-sized antique mirrors and chairs and their signature bold floral fabrics.
The store, a double unit space of 3,000sq foot spread over two floors is located at 3 – 4 Percy Street, London W1. The spacious ground floor houses their sensational Autumn/Winter 06 collection whilst the basement provides an exclusive showroom, personal shopping and styling area for private clients and VIP’s.
