To surpass an epoch of the ancient world, to innovate unique and exquisite collection from an eclectic mix of multicultural background which are the essence aesthetics of Avvisuar design.

Avis Sim launched her own label in 2003 and had been selected to join L’Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week to show her A/W 2004 Collection.

"It is my dream to see the world embrace and adopt the different cultures of the world into its wardrobe.”

Inspired by her grandmother, a talented Chinese Cheongsam master. Avis Sim studied fashion at AUT (Auckland University of technology) with the aim of becoming a great designer. She also found herself drawn to the work of Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli, and Chanel.

Her label Avvisuar was launched in 2003.

While initially Avis’ garments were very extravagant and fantastical drawing great attention, recent collection have balanced out to include are wearable pieces with her customers in mind, and as always are executed with the highest level of finish something Avis sees as crucial to achieve.

The Avvisuar range encompasses all aspect from party wear to street chic and even office wear. Avis also design and makes to measure formal evening wear and bridal creation.

Innovate a unique and exquisite collection from an eclectic mix of multicultural ideas is the essential of an Avvisuar design.

“I think another major influence is where I come from: Malaysia. It is a place where many races live peacefully and happily together.” My design always seems to have a bit of a Chinoiserie mix in there.” say Avis.

For A/W 0708 Avis has entitled her collection “My Crown”.

This new collection has inspired by a young beautiful New Zealander, Claire Beattie, Who has won Miss Franklin in 2005 and entitled to enter Miss World NZ, Miss Tourism World New Zealand Beauty Pageant held in Auckland. Flying out to Japan and then on to China to compete in the Miss International Beauty Pageant in Beijing. Avis has asked to design New Zealand national costume, evening dresses, cocktail dresses and day wears for Miss international New Zealand.
Designer Avis Sim has asked to be the great sponsor for Miss international New Zealand since 2006.
