One of Australia’s leading fashion designers, Charlie Brown began her career in 1982 in San Francisco. Working in retail sales for Esprit, Charlie Brown developed a love for fashion and design. After gaining valuable experience in the fashion industry, in 1985 Charlie Brown realised it was time for a change - all the way to Australia, where she spent seven years at the design helm of Howard Showers.

After several years of making other people famous, Charlie Brown decided to give it a shot herself! Following her dreams and passion, Charlie Brown formed more than a business partnership with Danny Avidan (now husband) and in 1995 launched her self-titled label, Charlie Brown.

Sexy, playful, beautifully constructed and tailored, Charlie Brown’s collection provides women with a unique product mix that captures a far greater segment of the market than any of her contemporaries – the label was destined for success!

With a strong business acumen, an innate marketing talent and of course design vision, Charlie Brown continues to move from strength to strength and launched her eclectic and glamorous Princess Charlotte red carpet evening wear line in 2000, utilising the exceptionally high profile Supermodel Jerry Hall at Mercedes Australia Fashion Week in Sydney.

Charlie Brown has become synonymous for featuring international talent at her fashion shows, including Linda Evangelista, Helena Christiansen, Sophie Dahl, Jodie Kidd, and most recently, Jade Jagger at Mercedes Australia Fashion Week in 2005. Charlie Brown’s seasonal campaigns have also showcased the famous faces of Lara Feltman, Cathy Freeman and Lady Sonia McMahon.

Now, celebrating ten years, the enduring legacy of the Charlie Brown label has been cemented. A major force in the Australian fashion marketplace, Charlie Brown has six self-titled stores in Australia, and sells strongly in department stores, nationwide retailers and internationally.

Charlie Brown will continue to draw on her design philosophy of evolution by pushing her label creatively and reaching out to so many women globally. From her position of strength, Charlie Brown will use her unique talents and drive her fashion brand forward – forever unpredictable!
