About The Dragon's:
Adele Micklethwaite (Owner)
Adele was born in Leeds,Yorkshire UK in 1957 and emmigrated to Australia with her parents and 2 sisters
in 1970.
Her mum was a dancer before she married and the family was always into amateur theatricals, they were always dressing up. Adele began sewing after watching her mother doing it for years. She started serious dressmaking when she was 11 in the late 60's, producing a scarlett cossack style mini dress. She's never stopped. In 1984-85, Adele took a year off from her work to travel through Europe and the UK. When she got back she decided to study garment design & construction while working full time. She completed nearly 700 hours study from the South Australian Technical & Further Education Department, then promptly reached the finals of the Lady Mayoress' Fashion Design Awards 2 years running. After she joined the SCA many years ago, she quickly started making pre 17th century clothing for not only herself, but also some very appreciative members who couldn't sew for nuts.
At this time she hooked up again with her old friend Terry Brown, after 20 years separation. They started what was to become Dragon's Blood Creations. Adele still goes out clubbing 'till all hours (much to Terry's despair!). One has to be seen wearing the clothes you see!
Terry Brown (Owner)
Terry was born in Milford Haven, Wales UK in 1958 and immigrated to Australia with her parents and sister in 1964.
In the mid 80's, Terry began to sew professionally, making wedding dresses in her spare time. During this time she joined the Society of Creative Anachronism (a medieval re-creation group) and started stretching her repertoire to pre 17th century garments. In 1989 Terry became a Laurel (the top arts award given by the group) and began making period garments to sell at major events. In 1991, she dabbled in a few things, including Bridal headpieces for a well-known Bridal house at the time and then bought into a fancy dress hire shop in 1993 where made over 100 costumes.
In 1996 she again started something new when she joined the Costumers Guild of Australia, based in Melbourne. After winning numerous competitions within the SCA, she entered the parades at the annual Costume Guild 'Costumers Ball' in 1997 and 1998 and won 'Best Master' in both.

Mandi Wormald Shop assistant
I actually started this business as 'The Olde Frock Shop', selling medieval inspired clothing at the 'Medieval Festival' in Adelaide in 1997 with an old friend of mine. As she couldn't help me the following year, I asked Adele. We started part time as we both had full time jobs. I was part owner of a Fancy Dress Hire shop and Adele was still working for the Australian Government, where we had first met in the mid 70's. In March 1999 I gave up the shop to work at this full time and Adele resigned in June of the same year to join me and we've been building the business ever since. Adele came up with the current name first. I insisted on adding the 'Creations' to it as we kept getting asked for 'Dragon's Blood'. We didn't realise at first, that it was a resin used in Pagan and Wiccan ritual (it's also used, by the way, to colour violins!)
We started working full time from the house we shared but were determined to move as soon as possible to improve our profile. We were already getting a good reputation for the work we were doing, but our environment was uninspiring to say the least. When we first saw the 100 yr old number 19, it was a mess. Ceiling falling in, pigeon poo and cockroaches all over the place, filthy walls and a truck parked inside. It was love at first sight. We saw the potential and we've been here since the 15th October 2001. If we ever expand, it's the workroom that will be finding a new home.
Our hopes for the future are simple. Expand our sales overseas and as a result, employ more people to work for us. Our web site, www.dragonsbloodcreations.com.au , has been built to achieve this and the exchange rate being what it is, the advantage to our overseas customers is obvious.
We are not about to ignore more local customers though. We are happy to deal with anyone who desires quality clothing, made with the best care and if you find any faults with our garments that we missed, we'll fix or replace them as quickly as we can, no matter where you're from.
You also have our guarantee that 99% of our garments are designed and made on the premises and a portion of our products, we can make wholesale.
By the way, if you have a retail outlet or know someone who may like to stock our garments, give them our address to contact us. We are happy to send our garments anywhere in the world.
Someone once said to us, ‘I’ve heard you’re expensive but you’re very good’. This is a reputation we can be justifiably proud of. Regards
