My handbags are described as 'a sprinkling of vintage, a twist of retro, all mixed together with a dash of humor!' I would like to think I have created a handbag like no other!!! I have 16 designs at the moment - and will be showing the collection at the Autumn Fair trade show NEC UK - and next year have been ask to show at Pret A Porter, International trade fashion event, Paris, France - very exciting!
I love to create a handbag that has a vintage feel - but also giving the excitement of something brand new! I use metal, chunky diamante clasp and a beautiful bright pink satin interior - the 'front' designs are all hand finished using ribbon, beading and hand encrusted diamante. The printed design is onto a thick canvas with super bright colorations....I almost want the handbag to become a large item of jewelry - something people 'wow' and 'giggle' over!!!! I am a sucker for all things vintage and have a huge collection! I also love design that is not taken too seriously - together with designs that appear to be something else! I have a few handbags that look like - a watering can, a radio, a teapot etc - I wanted to create a mix of all of these things! I had been running my business for 7 years designing other products like t- shirts and stationery - I decided to concentrate on my first absolute LOVE - handbags! My teeny daughter has also inspired me!
Something I want people to know about my line - it's fabulous, scrumptious, delicious, hilarious, glamorous, delightful, vintage, completely and utterly unique!!! I have a large amount of collectors of my handbags some owning up to 6-7 handbags!! Jennifer Nicholson (Jack's daughter has 3!) Design nightmares - I have had a few!!! Some too terrible to mention (Ooooooooh!) One time I designed some awful calico printed handbags with clear Perpex handles - they seemed fabulous on paper but in reality they just didn't work! Needless to say I didn't run them!!!
My greatest achievement - is my 3 year old daughter Poppy! My second - is sticking with it all through tough times - never give up if it gets tough, it is then that you need to stick with it and try harder the most! After 10 years in business I really feel like I have so much more to give and learn. I have achieved business and design awards and have and will be showing my collections at many prestigious shows/events and have supplied quite a few well known faces - but the biggest achievement - I am still creating and doing what I love - designing handbags for everyone to ENJOY!
