Lisa Gorman has been making Australian women look effortlessly stylish since the launch of her whimsical label, Gorman, in 1999.

The talented designer, who once established a Barbie clothing production line with her three sisters at six-years-old, now clothes real women from her four flagship stores located in Melbourne’s GPO, Fitzroy, South Yarra and her recently-opened Sydney store on Paddington’s Oxford Street.

Her soft fabrics and pretty prints have garnered a cult following in Australia and overseas, but Lisa's inspiration remains in Melbourne.

Lisa Gorman’s label has a fresh, uncomplicated naivety about. It is not particularly trend driven, but rather uses quality fabrics, good shapes and customised prints in a modern way to create clothes that fit nicely with the Australian way of life.

In addition to her Gorman label, the environmentally-conscious designer launched her Gorman Organic basics range in June 2007, made from fibres and yarns that are certified as organically produced or otherwise grown in the wild without using conventional farming methods.

The Gorman Organic collection is the first step the company has taken toward to becoming carbon neutral by end 2008.

Lisa Gorman certified her commitment to going green by unveiling her environmentally-friendly Gorman Organic collection at her recently-opened Sydney boutique last week.

The eco-conscious designer hosted an all-organic launch party which was attended by a swarm of stylish faces, including FashionAssassin’s Alex Zabotto-Bentley, Shakuhachidesigner Jessie White, Holly Garber, Maurizio Terzini and Jamie Durie.

The Gorman Organic collection, comprising of a stylish range of quality loose-fitting T-shirts, tanks and pyjamas to hoodies and underwear, is made from certified organic cotton and bamboo fibres, grown in the wild without conventional farming methods.

The result is an affordable, non trend-driven range of long-term designer basics in a clean and uncomplicated colour palette.

Available now from Gorman boutiques and Myer stores nationally, the Gorman Organic collection is the first step the company has taken towards becoming carbon neutral by the end of 2008. Stay tuned for the launch of a Gorman Organic online store towards the end of the year.
