Just a Guy
One day, a guy named Rob sat at his Papatoe home thinking how tired he was of wearing his crappy old threads; deciding he needed some new ones, he set out in search of something that would express his personality – but mostly just something that would make him look a bit cooler, and maybe even help him get a lady friend.
This led him to the wonderful world of the Internet, which, up until then had been a largely unexplored phenomenon for young Rob. As he continued to “surf” the web, he stumbled across some wicked 80’s themed t-shirts, and ordered them all the way from the mighty USA – all the while his tiny little head was brimming with exciting ideas about how cool he was going to be with his new t-shirts.

An idea born
Everything was going swimmingly when; one night out while wearing one of his new tees, he began to field several enquiries about his fresh fashion accessory; an entrepreneurial light bulb went off in Robs head. Why not buy a few more next time and sell them to other people who want to be cool too?
In 2004, Mr Vintage was born…well, kinda. Under the name Mr Vintage on TradeMe, Rob began to sell more and more, and even began designing his own ‘Kiwiana’ range. Still living with his Mammy and Pappy, Rob was doing this all out of a storage shed he had hired; while balancing his job at a winery in the morning, his studies at AUT, and selling his tees at night.

Mr Vintage rescues an Oompa Lompa
So, in September of 2006, Rob moved out to a luxurious new base in Hillsborough overlooking the South-Western Motorway, and set out on his new task of concentrating solely on Mr Vintage – having decided to give his studies a break. Working out of his basement/garage; Rob hired Andy, an Oompa Lompa Rob had found in Oompa Land. Encouraged by his work-rate and claim of being ‘the biggest little man you’ll ever meet’, Rob put Andy in charge of operations and he gradually got used to conditions away from Oompa Land and eased himself in to a full time position. Andy even began to fill out, aided manfully by their staple diet of baked beans and Tuna on toast.

Moving to Parnell
While he felt he was definitely cooler than he was two years ago; Rob felt unfulfilled, he still hadn’t found that lady friend he had set out to find. With this in mind, Rob and Andy packed up their gears and moved to new premises including a showroom in the trendy Parnell. It was there that they added a vibrant supporting cast including Bex, Hayden, and Jay. Without even realising it, Rob & Andy had assembled a hard-working team that was dedicated to; providing top quality service, ping-pong, and Street Fighter.
Because of the Mr Vintage teams’ work-horse character, they don’t get out too much – which is why they want as many customers as possible to come in and check out the showroom and say hello.

We’re always adding to our ‘Kiwiana’ range; and, with so much emphasis on keeping things ‘fresh’ and so many new ideas, the designs won’t always stay around - so get them while you can. We at Mr Vintage are always keeping our ears to the ground to find organisations around the country that are doing good stuff, and we have recently begun supporting DonateNZ, and are also proud to be exclusive distributors of the Movember t-shirts (in support of testicular cancer). We also support the ‘Keep New Zealand Beautiful Society’, giving $5 from every purchase of our Keep New Zealand Beautiful line.
